As they embrace life in the 21st century, Mother Teresa graduates will have academic superiority. They will approach studies with optimal personal effort, will exceed required academic expectations, and will accept their personal strengths and weaknesses. They will be prepared for the challenges of the 21st century, having built a strong foundation in traditional areas of study, but also in technology and foreign language, having studied Spanish at the high school level.
Spiritually, the students will have a relationship with their God. They will know and embrace the teachings of the Catholic faith and understand that they are the Church. This understanding and knowledge will inspire them to service their communities. In the spirit of Blessed Mother Teresa, they will recognize and respect cultural diversity.
Our graduates will be comfortable in speaking publicly, find fulfillment in performing, and appreciate and acknowledge the great artists of our time.
With their Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School experience, our young people will be prepared to further their education, constructed on a foundation of Academic Excellence, Faith and Community.
Why choose MTCES as your school?
"Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person."
~Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa was a unique individual who made a difference because she was not afraid to lead, and to work to make the world a better place. As a result, the life of a European-born nun who spent most of her adult life in India has inspired people around the world. Shortly before her death in 1997, a group of parents took her words to heart, and became the leaders who founded Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School.
Most area Catholic schools were founded by their parish or the Archdiocese; MTCES was founded by parents. From our founding ambitions to our ever-evolving goals, MTCES strives to provide a unique environment that fosters Academic Excellence, strengthens Faith, and instills a sense of Community.
Among Our Strengths:
We are a private Catholic Elementary School, partnering parents in the education process.
Our school was founded by a group of area parents, and parents remain a vital part of our leadership. As a private Catholic school, the school is directed by a Board of Trustees comprised of MTCES parents. Through the board, parent-driven groups (PTO and Boosters) and various committees, our parents are actively involved in the decision making process. MTCES believes that parents are partners in the education process and share with us a spirit of common ownership and responsibility. This partnership is beneficial to everyone; studies have shown that the more a parent is involved in a child's education, the better that child grows and develops.
We provide a traditional learning environment.
The curriculum is centered on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Graded Course of Study, which is shared by all parish schools in the Archdiocese. This curriculum allows us to focus on our core values --- Academic Excellence, Faith and Community --- which complements the basic program.
Community service is a vital part of our student life.
As part of our education process, we direct students to follow the example of Mother Teresa and spend time helping the less fortunate. This includes direct involvement in community service, with the hopes that it promotes family involvement as well.
We incorporate technology into our education process.
We strive to make appropriate use of technology in the education process, to enhance the skills of the students and their families. This applies to the classroom as well as to administrative functions. We have a dedicated technology lab and maintain our own web site for increased communication between the school entities and parents.
We strive to make religion part of every student's life.
We start each day with a school-wide prayer, and celebrate Mass bi-monthly. As a school, we pray the rosary together throughout the months of October and May. During Lent, the students participate in a school-wide retreat, receive the sacrament of Reconciliation, and pray the Stations of the Cross.
We enhance the personal development of the student.
Using such techniques as self-directed merit work, students earn credits for and develop personal skills in public speaking, work ethics, goal setting, teamwork, responsibility, finance, and leadership.
In just over a decade, MTCES has grown from a one-room classroom that met in the basement of Our Lady of Sorrows Church to a state-of-the-art facility in Liberty Township with over 450 students. We educate children from kindergarten through the eighth grade; we help young children learn to learn, as they grow in their faith, and partner with the child and their parent as they develop into well-rounded students ready for the challenges of high school and beyond.
We are known as the MTCES Volunteers, which is a fitting description; our school was founded by a group of parent volunteers who wanted a faith-based education for their children. Volunteerism founded our school, and is the cornerstone for its continued success and growth.
We are an innovative private Catholic school that focuses on Academic Excellence, Faith and Community. We have invested and will continue to invest in giving our students the highest level of education with a multitude of experiences.
