Testimonial:

Our Lady of Grace Catholic School strives for academic excellence and strong character development. One of our favorite things at OLG is the chapel talks which feature eighth grade students leading younger students through some rough topics, like dealing with change, bullying, healthy eating and responsibility. These talks give students the opportunity to develop their spirit as well as their minds. Another strength of the school is its dedication to the arts. The drama department is outstanding. The choral group, ”Soarin” performs in the local community. Student art projects dazzle visitors. We are pleased with the well-rounded education our daughter is receiving at OLG. In her two years at OLG, she has played basketball, volleyball, and softball, participated in the Bible Bowl, the Academic team, a speech competition, choral competitions, been a cast member of four drama club productions and is a drama club officer. Most important are the friendships that she has developed and that she wakes up excited to go to school every morning. We feel strongly that OLG is the right place for our daughter.

Overview:

You’ll find OLG nestled in the heart of Groesbeck, a community that topped BusinessWeek’s list of “Places to Raise Kids — for Less.” Formed in 2008, OLG is a regional school that reflects the best practices of Assumption, St. Ann, St. Margaret Mary, and St. Therese Little Flower, a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.  Adjoining both the Groesbeck Library and the newly formed Groesbeck Park, students and faculty enjoy access to rich community resources.

History:

OLG represents a collaboration of the Covenant parishes of Assumption, St. Ann, St. Margaret Mary, and St. Therese Little Flower.  Effective June 30, 2008, the individual schools of these parishes closed and Our Lady of Grace, functioning as a regional school, opened.  The school proudly serves not only our Covenant parish families but also the broader communities of North College Hill, Mt. Healthy, Mt. Airy, and Groesbeck.

OLG provides

  • Full-Day Kindergarten program
  • School Psychologist, Speech/Language Pathologist, Instructional Specialist, Intervention Specialist, 2 Title I Teachers, Tutors
  • Fully stocked library staffed by a full and a part-time librarian
  • Strong reading and math program supplemented by Accelerated Reading and Accelerated Math
  • Full array of extra-curricular activities (Athletics, Drama, Choir, Academic Team, Bible Bowl, Opportunities in Art, Community Service, Band, etc.)
  • Unique schedule which ensures that the minutes allotted to each core curricular area are protected while at the same time affording students opportunities to engage in Liturgy,Chapel Talks, Academic Assistance, Standardized Testing and Electives such as Foreign Language, Drama, Robotics, Aerobics, Clay Animation, Art, and Creative Writing.
  • Utilization of the OptionC online grading program which allows parents and guardians to view student assignments and grades.

At OLG, we recognize different learning styles and provide opportunities for both development and enrichment. Traditional teaching methods are blended with technology to best prepare students for the future. In this generation, there is hardly a child that doesn’t enjoy a multimedia experience. With two computer labs, we embrace that enthusiasm and use it to reinforce learning at all ages.

Whether your child is a budding Picasso or Hemingway, a fan of Big Band or Broadway, he/she is sure to find an outlet for expression at OLG. With full-time dedicated art and music teachers and after-school clubs, we fuel the creative spirit.

From the food we serve to the teams we cheer on to victory (Go Eagles!), we encourage kids to be active and make healthy lifestyle choices. Our Lady of Grace participates in the Cincinnati Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) athletic league and encourages students to develop the Christian principles of fair play and cooperation, under well organized and properly supervised forms of athletics both in and out of school.

At OLG, we embrace diversity of gender, race, and ability. We foster appreciation for differences and look for opportunities to learn more about our global community and our own back yard by sponsoring canned food drives, endorsing “Locks of Love” and “Jump Rope for Heart” campaigns, and helping the needy of the community through varied service projects.

Mission Statement:

The mission of Our Lady of Grace School is to create an environment in which every student, teacher and staff member has the opportunity to individually and collectively fulfill the spiritual, academic, social, artistic and physical potential given to them by God. We uphold the dignity of each member of our community and take intentional actions to bring about the common good. We understand that our success is only complete when we all are moving along the path of becoming the best versions of ourselves.

Swaying. Sweating. Countless “Ums.” For many of us, this is the experience of public speaking.  So, it makes the accomplishments of nine students under Claire Hite’s direction all the more commendable. Having led the classroom for over 30 years, Mrs. Hite knows how to tell a compelling story, interject humor, command attention and never let them see you sweat. Nine students proved they’ve mastered her secrets. They competed in a multi-school speech contest judging serious and humorous monologues and dialogues. All nine finished second place or higher with two receiving trophies for the highest score in their division! Mrs. Hite and OLG are committed to providing students with opportunities to realize hidden talents and excel beyond the textbook.

Mrs. Beth Renick - Art Teacher Extraordinaire!

Some people teach art. Some people live it. There is no doubt where Beth Renick falls. Just walking through the doors of OLG, guests are struck by the volume and variety of art adorning the halls. All are the creative brainchild of Mrs. Renick and the expression of her inspired students. The school is their gallery. The world is their canvas. On behalf of Mrs. Renick, we congratulate our OLG students who showcased their talents at LaSalle High School's 2010 Art Contest. They were awarded an amazing third place, second place, first place and Best of Show!
