St. Francis de Sales School is a welcoming community of involved families and dedicated teachers. It provides a faith-based education that nurtures spiritual and character development. St. Francis de Sales School has an innovative curriculum designed to strengthen critical thinking skills, promote creativity, and ignite a love for learning that will successfully prepare its students for the future. The State certified staff works with each child as an individual with a unique learning style to help them achieve their potential. Academic excellence and character development are seen throughout the school. The curriculum for each grade is designed to exceed the requirements of the State of Ohio. In addition to our academic subjects, to help our students become well rounded individuals, all students receive instruction in art, music, physical education and computing. The school uses a firm but loving approach to discipline to help all students become productive individuals. St. Francis de Sales is open to students of any race, color, creed, gender, or ethnic origin. We treasure our diversity and welcome families of all backgrounds and from any accessible location! Busing is available from Lebanon City Schools, Little Miami, Wayne Local, Mason City, and Springboro.
St. Francis de Sales Parish was established in 1883 with the building of the first church. Due to parish growth and the desire to establish a school, land was purchased and a new building was constructed. The new church as dedicated in September, 1961. The St. Francis de Sales School opened in September, 1962. The first year student body of 139 was taught by two Sisters of Notre Dame de Damur and two lay teachers. In 1990, a Kindergarten program was added. Currently, the school serves 202 students in grades Kindergarten to Eighth from 121 families. The staff has grown to 13 fulltime teachers and 7 part time teachers. The school routinely ranks in the top 15% of all school in the nation based upon national testing. Academic excellence and character development are a large part of the To Know… To Love… To Serve theme practiced throughout the school year.
