About 6 years ago our son was attending a local school and a friend asked us why we didn't have him enrolled at St. Peter Catholic School because they were a National School of Excellence. Soon after visiting the school we enrolled our son, then in the first grade and our daughter in the preschool. My husband and I often say it was the best move we ever made. Our children, now grades 6 and 3 are receiving an excellent education in a safe and nurturing environment. We know they are learning and growing in their Catholic faith and that is very important to us as well. We feel very blessed to be a part of the St. Peter family.

Alumni Description:

"Scott was a 1998 graduate of St. Peter School. He then received his high school degree at Carroll High School in Dayton. His next educational degree (a BA in English Literature) he acquired at The Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus. Since then he has been studying as a Seminarian for his Master's in Divinity at The Athaneum of Ohio/Mount St. Mary's Seminary of the West in Cincinnati. He will become a priest in May 2011. When questioned about his achievements in life that he feels resulted from his education in Catholic Schools he states that his preparation for the sacraments helped groom him for a life of service. He began volunteering at museums while still in elementary school. Catholic Schools also ingrained in him a sense of discipline and hard work. Because of that influence he made the Dean's List multiple times while in college and has maintained a 3.9 GPA in Graduate School. ""Through the values I leaarned at St. Peter I was certainly open to the possibility of a vocation to the Priesthood."" Scott will be honored on February 5, 2010 in a surprise (for him) ceremony at St. Peter Church after the All-School Mass as a Distinguished Gruduate of St. Peter Catholic Elementary School."

Kindergarten Teacher and Educational Aide
Spotlight Teacher Details:

I would like to share one of the many positive experiences my family has had at St. Peter School.  (This was in 2006-2007.) My youngest son, Matthew, is in Mrs. Momberger’s Kindergarten class with Mrs. Foley as his classroom aide. He has an aide because he has multiple disabilities. Mrs. Foley has been in Matthew’s classroom for four years (Pre-School) and does an outstanding job.

This was Mrs. Momberger’s first year with Matthew. We have chosen to fully include him in the regular classroom so he can learn in a Catholic environment along with his peers, just like his two older brothers. An Individualized Service Plan (ISP) is written to outline the goals and objectives that will be used to meet his needs. Mrs. Momberger reads his ISP and challenges herself quite successfully to create modifications to his curriculum to meet his needs. When the children work with different letters, Matthew is given a textured letter to explore, which he really enjoys. She welcomes Matthew into her classroom just as she does the other students. At the Christmas program, she could have set him next to the bleachers as the children sang. Instead she and Mrs. Foley came up with parts for Matthew. For one song, they put a string of bells on his wrist to shake and at the end he held a sign wishing everyone a Merry Christmas as two friends pushed him out front and helped hold the sign. Mrs. Momberger has also been very open to learning about his wheelchair, cochlear implant, and different learning styles. She creates a classroom atmosphere that involves everyone, which allows the students the freedom to learn to love and appreciate one another. Matthew is accepted as part of his community. He has grown so much as a young boy and he has Mrs. Momberger, Mrs. Foley, and all his friends at St. Peter School to thank for that.
